I don’t know what caused this cloud pattern, but they sure were pretty!

As I passed by the dam today, I noticed water was being released from all three spillways. I decided to go to the lower side of the dam and get a few photos. I could feel the spray in the parking lot – and the fish smell filled the air. Back in May when we had the record flooding, the water was over the walls showing on each side of the photo. (See Day 124 for comparison). There are people fishing on the bottom left of the photo near the red sign. Gives you an idea of the scale and just how much water there was during the May flooding.

We had more rain this week and more flooding, but nothing like we had in May. After the storm on Saturday the sun and clear sky was reflected in this puddle in the road near my house.

I was planning on a series of photos of school supplies this week, but the weather changed that for me this evening. We had scattered thunderstorms and a tornado warning. When the warning came on TV, the weather person also mentioned how much lightning there was with the storms. It wasn’t raining at my house yet, but the thunder was rolling and there was a lot of lightning – most of it “soft, scattered” lightning in the clouds…reminded me of light from a softbox at times.
The best view of the sky is from my driveway because of all the surrounding trees. There was lots of thunder and lightning, but only a little rain. I ended up taking 53 shots trying to get a good one of the lightning. Here’s the two best ones. The camera was on the tripod, set at f16, ISO 200, bulb setting. I got a lot of shots of dark sky, but I’m pretty pleased with the two below.

A yard art windmill. I’m not sure if it really works or is just decoration. I kept waiting for a breeze to blow it, but it was only a hot, not a breezy, day.

After a bit of rain and a lot of humidity I found these mushrooms growing in the backyard. They must have sprouted over night. When I got home this evening the few that were left were wilted and laying on the ground. I guess direct sunlight and 96 degrees isn’t a good evironment for fungi!
