My morning glories are covering the mailbox now. Every morning there seem to be more blooms. Just a couple of weeks ago there was only one or two blooms at a time, but now there are dozens. I love the way the middle appears to glow.

Have you ever seen a dead animal on the road in the morning, then no trace of it in the evening. Wonder what happened to it?

I went for a walk this morning and saw a dead squirrel in the middle of the road. Around lunch time, I saw these two buzzards fighting over the road kill. I noticed them circling because they were so big. I though at first it was a hawk just because of the size, then one landed and started to make lunch of the squirrel. The ”red headed” buzzard tried to get a few bites, but the other buzzard defended his “catch” and ran the red headed buzzard off. It only took about 10 minutes and the only thing left of the squirrel was fuzz. The buzzard even carried off what was left of the skin.

Here are the photos of the two wonderful families I had the privilege of working with at Photos for the Flood. The summer heat didn’t stop a fantastic turnout of both photographers volunteering their time and talent and families supporting the flood relief efforts (and getting new portraits in the process)!  Altogether, just under $3000 was raised to help with the flood relief efforts. We had a great organizer and great turnout all around. I’m happy that I could be a part of this!

I took my eight year old and three year old granddaughters to Cheekwook Botanical Gardens to see all the daffodils in bloom. I let them use the point and shoot to take photos of their own. I was somewhat surprised when the 3 year old started telling the 8 year old where to sit and how to pose for a photo. At one point the 3 year old stopped some women on the walkway and said, “excuse me just I minute while I take her picture”, the she proceeded to drop to one knee and start composing the shot. The women were laughing so hard and of course they stopped and watched until my granddaughter got her shot. Here’s my photo of the up and coming model and photograher. It is followed by the 3 year old’s portrait of her sister and a picture of the daffodils the 8 year old took. Not to bad in my opinion….even if they are my granddaughters!

My dog has been going crazy barking at one spot in the wall and pawing at the baseboard. I heard some scratching one day. Yesterday morning and this morning I heard a scrambling noise when I turned on the shower. My dog went crazy. I pulled the edge of the access panel back and eyes were staring back at me. I quickly closed it back and called an exterminator. When he pulled the access panel back, he saw it too….it is a squirrel. It ran back into the wall. Now I have this “lovely” trap sitting in my bathroom floor. It is baited with peanut butter and walnuts. The door is closed and the crack at the bottom covered with a rug with heavy books on it so the squirrel can’t get under the door. So far, nothing in the trap. I’m glad I have two bathrooms! I hope the squirrel takes the bait soon….
