I’m trying to get some good tomato shots that I could possibly enter in the Tomato Festival art display in August. Here’s the first one! This is an Amish tomato on flat bread with mozzarella cheese and a splash of balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

There’s a huge tropical plant at the top of one of the stairways in the office building where I work. There’s also a really huge skylight above it. For a short time each day the sun shines through the skylight and hits the plant. The sun filters through the leaves and makes them look like they are glowing almost a lime green color. I wonder how many people walk by and never notice how beautiful the plant is in the light.

Ok, I’ll admit I didn’t take these today. It’s been a long, long day and I’m really tired……not a good excuse, but that’s my story! Since I didn’t have a new shot (that I liked) to post today, I thought I”d treat you to some remarkable cuteness. Sugar Lump is now six months old. I did a portrait session of her when she was three months old, and she has grown a lot for such a little puppy! Here is a sample of her six month portrait session that I recently shot.

When I let the dog out this morning, I heard a squirrel scurry across the patio cover. I went out to see if it was throwing acorns at the dog and this is what I found. It had to be my photo of the day – because I can’t explain exactly how it happened. It must have happened yesterday while I was at work, because I’m pretty sure I would have heard it hit. I know it wasn’t like this over the weekend because I was outside with the dogs quite a bit and I’m pretty sure I would have noticed. It was hard not to miss. I think the squirrels have started group javelin throwing to protest the “squirrel hotel” next door being closed. What I can’t figure out is the angle, especially since this branch had to have fallen from my huge oak tree from straight over the house.
I have two repair people coming to give me quotes tomorrow on repairing the roof and someone coming to give me a quote on trimming up the tree that dropped the branch. I can’t afford to have it taken down – it’s probably 200 years old, 80 ft. or more tall and about 4 feet in diameter. The bad thing about it is it’s only about five feet from the house.

I’ve tried more than 5. Seems I just can’t find the right combination of contact lenses for both near and far vision to be optimal. The technician has been so patient with me. If distance vision is good, I can’t see to read. If I can see to read, distance is still a bit off. So far, the best option has been one contact in my right eye. I also ordered a pair of glasses….progressive lenses…..isn’t that sort of a fancy word for bifocals?

I wish I had a real macro lens. This is as close as I could get to this guy with the lens I have. Someday I’ll be able to get a shot where you can see all those little beady eyes! You can check out other 365 photographers here.
