It’s day 200 of my 365 day photography challenge. Has my photography improved? I think so. Have I learned to look at a lot of things differently and find the beauty in everyday things? Definitely.

Today’s photo is of home grown tomatoes. There’s a little tomato stand near a friend’s house that has the best tomatoes this time of year. They are grown by a woman in her 80′s. She has a lock box at the stand and everything is on the honor system for payment. You don’t see things like that much any more. I had to get a few when I went to visit my friend. :)

It was a very nice 4th of July. I’m so glad I was born in the USA and I’m thankful for all that are fighting so that we can be free. I went to the “Fireworks Super Store” and bought a few sparklers for my granddaughters. That’s where I got the backlit shots of the flag. I grilled out, had a slice of watermelon for dessert, and watched some of the neighbors shoot some fireworks.

There were antique cars parked at the local Chik-Fil-A today so I stopped to take a look at them. At first I thought it was an antique car show, then I saw a 2010 Mustang Cobra with the hood raised, so I decided it was for car enthusiasts in general. I talked to the owners of one of the cars and this has become the Saturday evening past time of a lot of locals, most with antique cars, but a few with newer cars that just like to hang out with other car lovers. There was a DJ playing oldies music and cars mostly from the 50′s and 60′s.

Just as I was about to leave, a 1957 Thunderbird convertible pulled in. I had to take a look at it because I have loved this model T-Bird ever since I was a girl. The owners, Clyde and Donna Barcus, told me I could sit in it if I wanted to! As I always expected, this model T-Bird is just my size although I don’t know if it would ever fit in my budget! :)

I’m trying to get some good tomato shots that I could possibly enter in the Tomato Festival art display in August. Here’s the first one! This is an Amish tomato on flat bread with mozzarella cheese and a splash of balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

It’s blackberry time! You can see them growing in the wild around here. These were growing along a fence on a country road. I picked a few of the ripe ones then heard a bunch of bees start to get agitated, so I headed back to the car.

I planted some morning glories this spring and they have done very well. They’ve climbed the trellis by my mailbox and have started blooming. I keep trying to get a shot of the open blooms, but they aren’t all the way open when I leave for work – maybe this weekend. I love the heart shape of the leaves.
