About two weeks ago I had the honor of shooting a maternity session for one of my best friend’s daughter. I remember when Dana’s feet didn’t hang over the end of a chair and it seemed she always had Cheeto dust on her mouth and fingers – Cheetos are still one of her favorite things. Now she has a “little Cheeto” of her own – baby Gauge was born yesterday evening. He decided to come a week early. Hopefully I’ll have some newborn shots of him to share in the next couple of weeks.

My oldest granddaughter discovered the Twilight series this summer and read the first three in a week. I bought her the last one when it came out in paperback last week and she started reading it this past weekend. She let me bring the first book home so I could read it. Now I keep looking at it and wondering if I really want to get started in the series….at least I know where I can borrow all the books! :)

My five year old granddaughter’s kindergarten teacher must be planning on a lot of sticky projects. The supply list states four bottles of glue for each child. Of course I know how quickly you can run out of glue if you have a lot of paper pieces, macaroni, or sparkly things to glue onto a project!
I liked the reflection of the glue bottle in the plastic on the notebook paper.

I played outside with two of my granddaugthers today. They were on a search for “lucky” four leaf clovers. They found several so they must be lucky little girls. There was also an abundance of dandelions in bloom. Are they flowers or are they weeds? I guess it depends on whether you ask a four year old or someone that has to maintain a lawn. I was the recipient of several of these flowers while we were outside. They are flowers that turn into wishes…..that’s what my granddaughters have always called them when they go to seed. If you blow them and make a wish…I guess you get more flowers!

Theme Thursday for this week is “Home.” I took a little different twist on the theme. Today’s photo is of my mother’s hands. These are the hands that made our house a home growing up. These are the hands that taught me how to cook, sew, iron, take care of a baby, crochet, wash dishes, sweep and mop the floor, make a bed, plant flowers, write, paint, and all the other things I needed to know to make a home of my own. These are the hands attached to the arms that are always open wide for a hug whenever I need one. These are the hands of one of the strongest women I know. The woman that taught me how to be strong and always told me I could do anything I set my mind to and be anything I want to be. She still tells me this whenever I need encouragement. My mom is the one that taught me how to be a mom, a friend, and how to love, all by loving me. My hands look a lot like hers, so one day this could be my hands. I just hope I am able to give to my daughter and granddaughters everything my Mom has given to me. For all of this I will be eternally grateful. I love you Mom!
