This is Harry. He belongs to my friend’s neighbor. He was more than happy to sit in the swing and pose for me. Spike, on the other hand (my friend’s dog), only wanted to fetch his ball. I tried to get a photo of the two of them together, but Spike wouldn’t hold still long enough.

Mt. Juliet, TN is a small town that’s growing fast. I remember when it only had one traffic light. Now it has a mall, hotels, restaurants, and a French Cafe. Here’s a photo of some of the wine glasses at the bar. I’m saving the photos of the food for a blog post on the restaurant that will be coming soon!

I planted some morning glories this spring and they have done very well. They’ve climbed the trellis by my mailbox and have started blooming. I keep trying to get a shot of the open blooms, but they aren’t all the way open when I leave for work – maybe this weekend. I love the heart shape of the leaves.

There’s a huge tropical plant at the top of one of the stairways in the office building where I work. There’s also a really huge skylight above it. For a short time each day the sun shines through the skylight and hits the plant. The sun filters through the leaves and makes them look like they are glowing almost a lime green color. I wonder how many people walk by and never notice how beautiful the plant is in the light.

I was noticing how many lightning bugs (as we refer to them in the south) were out tonight and decided to try a long exposure and see if I could get any of the “sparks”. I didn’t have much luck with that, but when I started back into the house I noticed a lightning bug laying on the step, belly side up and still glowing. The only thing I can figure is it flew into the sliding glass door. I started to take a macro shot of it, then I thought hmmm….wonder if I could “light write” with it. I didn’t want to pick it up because I remember from my childhood how “icky” the green glowing stuff can be on your fingers, so I started trying to “write” with the camera leaving my “light” source stationary. This might not look like much, but it took me 34 shots to get this. It might be a simple initial, but it sure was hard to capture. If squiggly lines had been what I was after, it would only have taken 2 or 3 shots, but I wanted at least my first initial. Attempts at my full name failed miserably.

Theme Thursday for this week is motion. Sometimes all you have to do is look aroung to find something moving. I tried getting some shots of my dog doing circles for a treat, but he came out too much of a blur, so I opted for the ceiling fan.
