I was surprised to find these in the grocery store labeld as “locally grown” tomatoes. I’m just east of Nashville. Grainger County is northeast of Knoxville, which is about 200 miles from Nashville. I guess that’s closer to being local than tomatoes grown in California!

I’m trying to get some good tomato shots that I could possibly enter in the Tomato Festival art display in August. Here’s the first one! This is an Amish tomato on flat bread with mozzarella cheese and a splash of balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

I saw these growing along the side of the road so I stopped and took a few shots.

It’s blackberry time! You can see them growing in the wild around here. These were growing along a fence on a country road. I picked a few of the ripe ones then heard a bunch of bees start to get agitated, so I headed back to the car.

My brother, the Irontamer, David Whitley,  is one of seven certified senior Russian Kettlebell instructors in the world. This Saturday he opened his own facility. I had the honor of shooting the ribbon cutting. He’s worked hard and I’m proud of him. You can find out more about him and kettlebell training at his website, Nashville Kettlebells, or check him out on FaceBook or Twitter @irontamer. Here’s a few shots from the big day!

This is Harry. He belongs to my friend’s neighbor. He was more than happy to sit in the swing and pose for me. Spike, on the other hand (my friend’s dog), only wanted to fetch his ball. I tried to get a photo of the two of them together, but Spike wouldn’t hold still long enough.
