I roamed around my “wooded” back yard this evening to admire all the buds and blooms on the trees and plants. I really liked the way the sun was shining through these tiny leaves. The bokeh was an added bonus – to me it has a mystical feel. Maybe my dog will find a leprechaun or pot of gold under all the ivy…so far all he’s gotten is a dirty nose and paws!

I got a sweet shot of Skipper tonight. He likes to lay on the couch beside me while I’m reading or watching tv. Everytime I try to get a photo of him sleeping he hears me and opens his eyes. Oh well, he was going to have to get up and go get in his bed anyway!

Here are a few shots of Jessica and Kayla I took during the In Camera workshop I attended this weekend. It was taught by Jody and Zach Gray of Gray Photography. We had a great time despite the cold and rain. Other than the conversion to black and white, all of these are straight out of the camera.

I took my eight year old and three year old granddaughters to Cheekwook Botanical Gardens to see all the daffodils in bloom. I let them use the point and shoot to take photos of their own. I was somewhat surprised when the 3 year old started telling the 8 year old where to sit and how to pose for a photo. At one point the 3 year old stopped some women on the walkway and said, “excuse me just I minute while I take her picture”, the she proceeded to drop to one knee and start composing the shot. The women were laughing so hard and of course they stopped and watched until my granddaughter got her shot. Here’s my photo of the up and coming model and photograher. It is followed by the 3 year old’s portrait of her sister and a picture of the daffodils the 8 year old took. Not to bad in my opinion….even if they are my granddaughters!

This is my niece dog Rosie. She’s spending the weekend while my brother and sister-in-law are out of town. She’s loves Skipper’s squeaky toys. They get a good workout when she’s here. She also likes to wind up and lay in one of Skipper’s beds. She has to go around in circles two or three times to get wound up small enough to fit.

Theme Thursday for this week is “Home.” I took a little different twist on the theme. Today’s photo is of my mother’s hands. These are the hands that made our house a home growing up. These are the hands that taught me how to cook, sew, iron, take care of a baby, crochet, wash dishes, sweep and mop the floor, make a bed, plant flowers, write, paint, and all the other things I needed to know to make a home of my own. These are the hands attached to the arms that are always open wide for a hug whenever I need one. These are the hands of one of the strongest women I know. The woman that taught me how to be strong and always told me I could do anything I set my mind to and be anything I want to be. She still tells me this whenever I need encouragement. My mom is the one that taught me how to be a mom, a friend, and how to love, all by loving me. My hands look a lot like hers, so one day this could be my hands. I just hope I am able to give to my daughter and granddaughters everything my Mom has given to me. For all of this I will be eternally grateful. I love you Mom!
