Day243: At first it looked like a unicorn
Posted on August 31, 2010
When I first saw this horse against the dark green backdrop of the trees, it reminded me of a unicorn in a fairy tale. It was rainy and a bit foggy and the horse almost appeared to glow.

Day241: A perfect match
Posted on August 31, 2010
This was another one of those things to make you go “hmmm…”. As I was out walking in the neighborhood I came across a spot where it appeared an entire box of matches had been spilled. It wasn’t in front of a house, just at a random spot in the road.

Day240: Abandonded

I’m not sure, but this house seems to be abandoned. It looks like it needs a lot of repairs. I thought the door was interesting.

Day239: Fire hydrants
Posted on August 28, 2010
I’ve noticed that fire hydrants in the area are painted different colors. Hmmm….wonder why? This might be a series that requires a bit of investigation….This is not the hydrant that’s in my yard from Day 134, but it is in the neighborhood and painted the same color. Once you get out of my neighborhood, I have noticed hydrants painted other colors. Might have to ride around and see how many different ones I can find. I applied an antique preset from LightRoom to this one.

Day238: Fun with fungi
Posted on August 26, 2010
These aren’t mushrooms, they are toad stools – big enough for a toad (not a little frog) to sit on and have room left over. I don’t know what it is with the weather lately, but several of the lawns in my neighborhood, mine included, have had some form of mushrooms growing in them. I guess we’ve had the perfect combination of rain and sun for the funny fungi to grow. The second photo shows the gills on the underside. The third and forth shots are macros – I wanted to bring out the details in the caps.

This is funny. I did a fire hydrant a couple of months ago.
